B2B analytics dashboards

B2B analytics dashboard development for your customers

We build reporting and dashboards inside SaaS products, with tenant-safe data, filters, exports and a data pipeline that matches your volume.

  • Customer-facing dashboards
  • Tenant-safe queries
  • Exports and scheduled reports

What kinds of analytics dashboards do we build?

Most of our analytics work falls into three groups:

  • Customer-facing dashboards inside your SaaS product, where each customer sees its own numbers
  • Internal admin dashboards for your team, covering usage, revenue and support
  • Reports sent on a schedule, as email summaries, CSV files or PDFs

A dashboard is only useful if the numbers answer a question someone asks every week. We start by listing those questions with you, then work out which data is needed to answer them. This fits into a wider custom SaaS development project or can be added to a live product.

How should the data pipeline be designed?

For many products, PostgreSQL alone is enough at the start. We add summary tables or materialized views so common charts do not scan every row each time they load.

When event volume grows, a column-oriented analytics database such as ClickHouse or BigQuery can be the better place for reporting data, fed from your main database or from an event stream. We recommend that step only when the data shows a need, because it adds cost and another system to run.

Slow reports in a live product are a common reason clients come to us. See refactoring and scaling.

How do we keep each customer's data separate?

In a B2B dashboard, showing one customer another customer's numbers is the worst possible mistake. Every query is scoped to the tenant on the server, using row-level security or enforced query filters, and we add automated tests that try to cross that boundary.

Exports, scheduled reports and shared links get the same checks, since they are easy to overlook. Our approach to separation is explained on the multi-tenant architecture page.

Good dashboards stay simple. We typically include a clear set of headline figures, date range and filter controls, charts built with libraries such as Recharts or ECharts, drill-down into the rows behind a number, and CSV export. Tables are searchable and sortable, and charts have text alternatives so they can be read by people using assistive tools.

For layout and flows, see SaaS UI and UX design. If an off-the-shelf tool such as Metabase or Superset covers your need, we will say so, since embedding one can cost less than a custom build.

What are the limits of analytics work?

A dashboard is only as accurate as the data behind it. If events are missing, duplicated or defined differently by different teams, the charts will show that confusion. We agree on metric definitions in writing and add checks that compare dashboard totals with the source data.

We design for the data volume you expect and test against sample data of that size, but we do not promise specific load times. Costs of warehouses and hosting grow with data, and those bills come from the providers to you. Insights from a dashboard are not a promise of any business result.

Questions about saas dev agency in United States

Should we build custom dashboards or embed a BI tool?

It depends on how much control you need. Embedding a BI tool is faster and cheaper for simple reporting. Custom dashboards fit better when you need your own look, fine-grained permissions or reports tied closely to product actions. We can compare both options in a short written note before you decide.

Can customers export their data?

Yes. We add CSV exports and, if you want, scheduled email reports or PDF summaries. Large exports run in the background so the interface does not freeze, and each one is limited to the requesting customer's own data, with the same tenant checks as the dashboard.

Can you add dashboards to our existing product?

Usually yes. We review your database and how events are recorded, then add reporting tables or a separate analytics store without disrupting the live product. If the current data is incomplete, we tell you what must be captured first, because charts cannot show what was never recorded.

Can you add AI-generated summaries to dashboards?

We can add plain-language summaries of a customer's own data using a language model. These can be wrong, so we label them clearly and show the numbers beside the text. See AI features for SaaS for how we scope this work.

How much does a dashboard project cost?

It depends on scope and data sources. Typical ranges are $7,500 to $12,500 for a lean MVP sprint of about 4 weeks and $18,000 to $35,000 for a production B2B SaaS over 8 to 12 weeks. A written quote follows scoping. See pricing.
